Course Purpose

Upon successful completion of this course, the student will understand how to use Rockwell Software’s RSView32 Software to create powerful 32-bit Human Machine Interfaces (HMI/MMI) incorporating Microsoft’s newest OLE/COM and ActiveX technologies. The student will leverage open technologies within the Microsoft Windows platform such as OLE,ActiveX and DDE. Used in conjunction with RSLinx and RSLogix Emulate5 to simulate a PLC, students receive interactive “hands-on” instruction that emphasized application of the concepts in an industrial setting.

The student will understand how RSView32 provides interoperability with other Rockwell Software products, Microsoft products, and third party offerings. They will also learn to improve upon traditional methods by using object-oriented animated graphics, an open database format, DBF historical data storage, and enhanced capabilities for trending, alarming, derived tag creation, and even detection.

By the end of the class, the student will have created a basic HMI/MMI that incorporates the vast array of powerful tools that RSView32 offers.
